My Story

Hello! My name is Kennedy (Kiki) and I run this exclusively gluten free, homebased bakery in central NY. My reason for creating this business stems from medical issues that started when I was 2. I had chronic respiratory issues and then developed intermittent episodes of hives. Even after allergy testing and bloodwork, the doctors were unable to find a cause. When I started developing gastrointestinal issues, my mom (who is a Registered Dietitian) decided to trust her instinct and eliminated gluten from my diet. Suddenly, all of my symptoms disappeared. The countless stomach aches, hives, constant respiratory issues and always feeling awful were gone.

When I was younger, the availability of gluten free foods was nowhere near where they are today. I remember always getting so excited when I found out certain places had gluten free options. Fast forward to 2020 when I needed some new hobbies to keep myself entertained, so I started decorating some cakes for fun. Before I knew it, friends and family started asking me to make them cakes, and thus, Kiki's Confections was born.

I can't even describe the feeling when another gluten free child's face lights up when they bite into a dessert of mine knowing with full confidence, they won't get sick. And that's what keeps me going: if I can make even ONE person's day better, I have accomplished what I had set out to do. I know my six-year-old self is proud.
